Welcome !

Welcome to Made Down South! Thanks for stopping by to see what I'm up to. This blog serves as my review of projects accomplished since I have way too many that are halfway done. I also tend to have so many urgent ideas where I simply have stop all else to work on the newest thing. So, this blog will show all the ideas that actually get made into stuff! Some of that stuff is available for sale at our etsy shop, Down South Designs.

Lucky Vintage Library Ladder

Here's a photo of my lucky vintage ladder that I found for $40 bucks at my favorite local thrift store! Sometimes it pays to LOOK UP when thrifting!

Since I found this treasure while we were planning to build our new house, it's been sitting in our rental storage unit. Not quite as safe and sound as I thought. Thieves broke in this weekend and stole my husband's building tools, compressors, construction ladders, etc. Guess what they left behind !! So, of course, I'm just a dancing around cause it's the only item I really considered irreplaceable! It's a library ladder style and measures in at 9 ft! I have a vision of displaying horizontally on the wall to hang one of my quilts. And it has "provenance" because it was used in the stock room of our local hardware store for who knows how many years! That old hardware store closed it doors in the 1980s but this old ladder was lucky and got rescued....twice.

Hey! I hate that they took things. Why are people so mean? Anyway, the GOOD news is that they left your ladder! :)
