Welcome !

Welcome to Made Down South! Thanks for stopping by to see what I'm up to. This blog serves as my review of projects accomplished since I have way too many that are halfway done. I also tend to have so many urgent ideas where I simply have stop all else to work on the newest thing. So, this blog will show all the ideas that actually get made into stuff! Some of that stuff is available for sale at our etsy shop, Down South Designs.

Aqua Star Part 3

I finished quilting the Aqua Stars quilt. The simple ziggedy line stitching was so easy and fast. My first time with this design!  Now it's time for the binding, my least favorite part cause it takes me so long.

I will be linking up at Freshly Pieced and Crazy Mom Quilts this week.

I'm a walking...with my Bernina. Learning to love my Bernina 750QE.Lesson 2

I'm in a Patsy Cline type of groove as I hum her "Walkin After Midnight" tune while stitching on my Aqua Stars quilt.  This Bernina walking foot is awesome.
I never realized how much better my ditch stitching would be with this closed toe foot. Once I trained myself to stop looking at the needle, everything got so much easier!  I just line up the seam on that middle mark on the foot and it's magic.  The needle just sinks right into the fold and the stitch practically disappears. No more wavering back and forth from one side of the seam to the other.  Yahooooo!!  Yes, I'm beyond thrilled because my past stitch in the ditch experiences were awful as well as stressful.

Can you see the stitches?  Me neither!!

Here's my trick for keeping my project from pleating at cross seams. I bunch up the quilt a lot to ease in any fullness that might creep up on me at the cross seams.  It works really well for me!

Aqua Star part 2

My work in progress is coming along nicely. These aqua stars on point measure over 90" x 90".

The backside was pieced improv method. I like it!
It's just the style that my daughter will like  ( I think...I hope... ! )
